3" catback on a 2.75" intermediate?

3" catback on a 2.75" intermediate?
I recently ordered a Hooker catback for my 96Z. It has the stock exhaust which has a 2.75" intermediate pipe, right? The only exhaust available for my car was with a 3" intermediate. Do you guys think this will fit, were these designed to bolt on to the stock exhaust?
