3.73s and stall....How much can I expect it to knock off my 1/8th et?
I'm planing on ordering a 3200 stall, and 3.73s I consistantly run 8.8@80mph. With my mods in my sig plus these what can i expect to run?
I saw a post not to long ago about 3.73s actually hurting in the 1/8th. I think the car was NA, and some others chimed in and said they had the same experience. Might just try the stall first.

Seems that this guy is most concerned with running the 1/8th. If he goes to 3.73s he'll spend more time in third before the traps, if he stays with 3.23s he'll spend less time in third, I think that's what the issue is here. On our trannies the 2-3 shift is certainly a big drop in RPM.

I'm not an 1/8th miler so I can disagree with almost everything in the link that was posted. I picked up 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile going from 323's to 373's and the car feels so much better. Between that and my converter those were the best mods I've done besides the headers. Adding up the headers, tc, and gears I lost a whole second off the 1/4 and really woke the car up!! Even a 150 shot of nitrous wouldn't compare to the driving pleasure. And Gas mileage? If you want that, get a civic.
Typically your mileage will improve with gears but the TC will cause a hit in efficiency.

Well I would have thought that gears would have helped.... However I have heard many people say that their car felt better after gears, but the improvement was not there at the track. I'm glad that yours helped you out though.
BTW Jon I don't know what converter you're planning to get but I wouldn't recommend a run of the mill, mass produced unit from Yank or Vig or ? My custom built 9x11 cost about the same or less and is BADASS. Here is a link:

Go to "online catalog", "Xtreme converters", and fill out a spec sheet. There is no obligation to buy and they will call and recommend a TC that's right for you. Then if you decide to buy, they'll custom build it and back it with and irregardless warranty. IMO, it's the best TC deal out there right now.

now if you said B&M or something like that, I'd agree....
I've got nothing but great things to say about my Vigilante...
I have 3.73's. The 1/8 is difficult because I shift so close to the traps. I would probably move to 4.10's or higher, although the 1-2 shift would be extremely quick and sticky tires would be necessary.
Addressin the so-called shift problem:
1. Get a shift kit. My PTS built tranny w/shift kit turns the shift into a gain. During the shift my car is instantly shoved forward.
2. Raise the rev limit and shift point. LT1 edit or hypertech will allow this.

I don't want to get off the subject but...
I have to say something about TC's. I personally had a very bad experience with a Yank TC and their company. I've never owned a Vig but a thread left a bad taste in my mouth to say the least. Here is a link and a quote from the thread:
PTS Xtreme 9X11 VS Vigilante
"I have been shopping for a decent lock up convertor for awhile now and was leaning towards the Vigilante Multi disc but have 5 things that really bother me about it
#1 Very harsh lock up under normal conditions
#2 Annoying rattle at idle
#3 Price
#4 All Vigilante's are off the shelf and not custom tailored to specific applications leading to a lot of guys questioning whether they got the "right pump number".
#5 They weigh substantially more than most convertors.
I am sure a lot of the guys with them will argue most points, but for me some of this things are very critical. I dont mind spending money for a quality part, but some of the issues are things that really bother me. Besides the fact that I called Precison Industries yesterday and had a woman try to answer my questions. I wanted to discuss with someone my combo of parts so that i can get the correct convertor. The reply was "no one is available."
