3.73's, 6 speed, gas mileage?
Cool, yeah I read your other post. I will be on the market for a 94/95 mustang GT w/5speed or a 94-97 F body with the 6 speed in the next couple months. Just gotta start figuring things out like gas mileage and insurance and things of that nature.
to give you an example, i got 4.10s, m6. my overall mileage per tankfull dropped by max 20 miles. with the stock 3.42s i used to get (on average) between 340-370 km (kilometers) per tank. with the 4.10's its between 330-350 km (kilometers), really not bad at all. its mainly on highway driving where itll take a bit more cause youre obviously revving a bit higher. 3.73's , i doubt youll even see a difference. the funny thing is, i got my best mileage ever (on a tank) with the 4.10'. something llike 425 km (kilometers). my max with the 3.42s was about 410 km. EVERY time i fill the z up, i reset the trip computer to see the mileage. the worst mileage i ever got in the z was with the 3.42s, i got like 230 km on a tank, BUT, it was a VERY bad winter week where the car was stuck in traffic a lot, so it just idled away all the gas. hope this helps. i wouldnt worry about it.

Well i have 4.10s in mine and alot of boltons running a 8.30 in a 8th, and i get regardless how easy i am on it about 200-225 a tank. With the m6 id really go 4.10, only thing about that a 4.10 is TRACTION. Hopes this helps.
I have 4.33 gears and last road trip i got about 26mpg. The thing is with big gears like that, is going up hills and stuff you dont have to give the car any more throttle because you have the rpms to make it up.
IMO, it is throttle position that kills mileage, not rpms.
