Cool 3.73's or 3.42's???

Well here it is.... I bought a nice 1995 Z28 Convertible with A4 tranny and it has 3.73 gears in it.

My commute every day has me wondering if I should swap the gears to a 3.42 and then get a stall converter to get the car up. I hate seeing only 75 mph at almost 3000 rpm. I drive almost 100 miles a day to work and back. I am netting around 17-18 mpg, but would really like to see a lower rpm and have a better top speed than what I currently see.

Any ideas here? Anyone in the Houston, Texas area want to swap?

Thanks for any input.

Then you're only choice is to go 3.42s.

I was just looking at the geaqr calculator and I am starting to wonder if this car has 4.10 gears in it. The tach shows damn close to 3000 rpm at 80 mph.

Anyone want to swap rearends? These gears do not whine and the diff is solid.

Thanks!!

I'm pretty sure my car runs at like 2800rpm at 75/80 mph. Can't really remember, I'll have to hit I95 and check.

I think you do have 4.10s.
I am running 2500 rpm at 70 with 3.73s.
