3.4L/LT1 swap done, help with rear end?

I wanted to buy a hole new rear end assebly (7.5" disks, calipers, rotors, shocks, axle, differential, etc), but that was like $300 used...Could I just buy a differential, or won't that work? Nobody has been able to give me an answer on if the 3.4L axle could hold up to the LT1? Also, is there a way to put a posi (or limited slip) differential on a one wheel peel axle (I don't know the difference in axles, is there any?)?

the rear ends i beleive are all the same, the 7.5" 10 bolt. you could buy the SLP diff for it, i think it's only $100 or so.
and the drive shafts should be the same, if not you coud find a steel one from an LT1 for cheap or splurg and get an LS1 for $120-150.

Yes you can install a posi into your rear end and the lt1/v6 rear ends are the same exept for missing the posi. Use a one piece driveshaft if you don't have one. I am still using the v6 rear and drum brakes with no problems. Adds to the sleeper effect

The posi from slp does not come with gears. If you currently have 273 gears you would need to upgrade to a 3 series carrier and get new gears and an install kit.

Not the differential, the POSI. As was posted above, you can buy just the posi from SLP for about $100. Also, as posted above, the rears are the same between the V6 and LT1 cars.

94-3.4, how much does the new carrier cost (the carrier is just the differential, isn't it?)...and then i need the gears w/ an install kit?...so, how much do you guys think it'll cost me to get posi in my car w/ and w/o 3.73?

I am pretty sure slp and some other venders sell complete gear kits. Aftermarket posi's are pricey, in the $300+ range as well. I am not sure as far as the carrier goes because i have never had one apart. You might want to just look into a used 10 bolt with 342 gears and a posi. I see them around the $250 range for sale often. Might be cheaper in the long run.
