Exclamation 3.42r boom 3.23 now got a cc306 t56

Well here is my situation, my 3.42 rear is toast. I had a car accedent it a curb bent the axle drove around like that for 3months till i could afford to fix it.. make a story short the housing is Fk'd. I got a 3.23 complete rear going in now.. But i also bought a cc306 cam kit from cmotorsports, am I going to have a really hard time now. My car is a t56 so I dont think it would be to bad. I dont have any intesions on redoing the 3.23s for quite sometime now.. All help would be gr8... Cam suggestions anything....

Your car will run fine. Would the CC306 prefer a steeper gear than 3.23? Yep. But you can definitely run that cam kit and then upgrade your gears when you have the time and/or money.

Oh.. Thought I would have alot of cam surge, heard these cams surge alot in low rpms... I dont have any experience with it yet... THe cam dont go in for a couple weeks, but the rear is going in tomorrow.. With the 3.23s will i be able to keep up with say a 224/230 car with 4.10s?

I have 3:42s and an Auto.. I dont really feel it unless im under 1500rpm and trying to accelerate slowly. With a manual you can just shift if you feel it.

Do the CC306. It'll be fine. You'll end up getting more out of that cam than you will the hot cam..

I'll just chime in here seeing as how I have a hotcam (with heads) and T-56 setup on a 3.23 rear.

You're going to want gears. Bad with the 306. I'm crossing the traps i third gear @ 6200 RPM with my setup. The hotcam isn't know to be a slouch down low either, but it's downright doggish on my car because of the gearing.

The hotcam will be more "streetable", meaning more low end torque and all around driveability. However, the CC306 will make more top end and have more loping/surging at the low end. It all depends on your priorities...

You'll probably want to stick with the hotcam then.
