236/242 with a 383?

Trying to figure out which cam to go with. I know this subject has already been beaten to death, but have been doing searches all day and cant find what i want. I think I am going to get a 383, but still want to have mid range power. I was thinking cc306, but i dont want to loose mid range. To me the 230/326 just seems to small. Rignt now I have ported heads, with stock valves. I was going to get 2.0, 1.56's, and get long tubes. Will the 236/242 be too much cam? Thanks

ran like a champ
118 mph with a bad injector

on a 100 shot went 128

I know I have read more of his posts today, I was hoping I could maybe get a reply from him too.

That would be a decent cam for a stroker motor and definetly NOT too big, especially with the added cubes.

I have a single-pattern 240 in my 396.

I have the XE 230/236 in my 383.

Pulls like a banshee to the redline.

I shift at 6500rpm.

The XE 236/242 is also a good cam too but I haven't seen any dyno numbers or 1/4 mile times for it yet.

I run that cam in my 383 and am pretty happy with it. I have P & P heads with headers, etc. I am at about 360 RWHP and need tuning bad. It sounds great on the 110 LSA. I am now searching for a rear end. First time at the track with new setup and lost it.

hey hey,
someone page me

I love the God damn cam!
I'll throw up a link to it idling.
with mail order tuning, stock heads, stock air box and a terribly mismatched converter (2400) that thing runs like a beast.

12.4 give or take according to my assometer and other cars i've raced on the street.
i've taken out C4's on 150shots and hes a better driver
a stang running 13.1
he ROCKED me off line with reaction time (his friend was counting down ) and he had BFG dr's. Took him out

i have lots of bottom end, to the point where the gas is insanly touchey.
I love the cam!

if your local, i'll take you for a drive

edit:
i expect to shift around 6700rpms

XE 230/236 works good in my 396. 420RWHP/425RWTQ. 11.2 at 123 MPH. Idles with a little lope and surges some at idle but not too bad.
