Gaskets (Thunder Racing sells a cam swap gasket kit). Orange and black RTV, thread lock, and some assembly lube. There ya go, add another $100 worth to your list...

Since you are budget limited i'd skip the ARP studs and reuse your stock lifters.

gaskets and every thing SHOULD be taken care of...the story is that a shop might have to yank my engine to get some oil pan leaks....so i might be able to slip a cam in there ...i work there...so ill be able to do it but im on low budget ya know.

how much HP will i lose if i reuse stock lifters? is there any risk of anything with stock ones? and the studs will be fine?

thanks guys

Like 2 hp if any......

Your rocker adjustment is going to make a bigger difference in HP than the lifters.

Its a roller cam so no there is no risk with reusing the stock ones unless they are extremely high milage and were about to fail anyways. Some builders use the stock replacements for much wilder motors.

My studs are fine. I'd wager that the vast majority of ppl with cams are reusing the stock studs. Plus, if your getting new studs then DEFINITLY go 7/16 and order rockers to match.

Noone take what i'm saying that replacing that stuff isn't a good idea, i'm just saying that is is DEFINITLY not required if your on a budget. I know of many people running stock lifters and stock studs.

Im just wondering...with a CC-503 cam with 1.6 RR the springs you have listed are not going to be enough. You might want to look into that before you buy them. Are you taking the heads off?

I did not verify if those springs are the best for that application. I'm of the opinion that there is more to spring selection than just being able to handle the lift without bind. I'd just follow comp's recommendation on springs.

The valve covers will need to be trimmed. Many people do it with a dremmel, but then you have grindings to clean up, putting sryran wrap in there will help. If you have a pair of tin snips you can use them with no cleanup.

As for lifters, i'm using stock lifters for the same reason, i was on a budget.

I have that cam and love it. I'm running the Crane 10308 double springs and 1.6 SA rr's...the ones that come with the hotcam kit. You will need a good tune with that cam as well.

tagz - is that time in your sig with the cam and headers??? I'm running 12.70's off the spray....very simular mods.
