224/230, timing set, water pump questions

OK, im really hoping to do a cam swap this spring and im trying to get my shopping list together. Ive decided on the XE 224/230 (cc503). My first question is where can I find one of these cams on a 110 lsa grind? Ive seen a few people with them here, but havent been able to find them for sale anywhere. Summit only carries the 112.

Im trying to keep this project as low dollar as possible for right now (without using cheap parts). My next two questions deal with the timing set and the water pump. Basically, do i need an XD timing set, or can i get by with just a replacement chain? Estimate 90k miles on the engine. (Its been used for what its made for, but very well maintained and runs strong).

Im also wondering about the water pump. eventually I want to do an electric water pump, but not right now if possible for $ reasons. Is this feasible or will i be creating too much of a nightmare for myself down the road? Also when it comes to this ive seen different parts for 93-95 and 96-97. Can anyone explain those?

Lastly do i need aftermarket pushrods on a 95 LT1 or will the stockers work? Think thats about it for now.

Here's my shopping list so far: (am i missing anything?)

Get some hardened 1 piece pushrods. Comp Cams Hi-Tech's will do. With 90k miles, you may want new lifters as an "insurance". If you do get them, go with OEM style lifters.

Not quite for someone on a budget. I'm running those.. but damn, little overkill for a cc503.

Comp Magnum chromeoly's will do, a little cheaper and still one piece.

Doh, didn't see the budget part. Guess I never realized how expensive they were, I managed to score mine pretty cheap.

I am running stock pushrods with that cam and 1.65rr's. Mine are 94 and so are hardened. You can tell if they have dimple on the shaft. I also replace the timing set with a stock replacement. 5k miles and so far so good.

I would say you could get that grind on a 110 LSA by calling Comp Cams directly. They would still have the same lobes, just not so much of a separation.

Doing everything yourself is feasible. Doing the water pump at the same time you do the cam will be easier, since you don't have to take things apart twice. I put the electric wp in before the cam because my stock wp failed and needed a new one. It wasn't too bad to do.

I'm running the Trick Flow pushrods. Also a 1-piece design, and I haven't had any problems with them.

are you sure i need new lifters? I just did a quick search on summit and the cheapest set is 487

No way i can afford that. Are GM replacements cheaper?

If they have a dimple on them (a test for hardness) I wouldn't replace them unless you end up with a geometry problem on the valve stem.

My RR's are made by Harland Sharp. They are for 3/8" studs and so are narrow body and fit under the stock cover without having to cut the covers. I did have to use ARP rocker studs though because the stock studs were hitting the bottom of the rocker. The ARP's have a tapper on the nut and so do not hit.

You were probably looking at the Morels which are pretty expensive. The GM replacments will cost at least half of that.
