2001 WS6 vs 1996 Formula LT1

Anyone else race a newer WS6? I raced him from a stop and from a 50mph roll. From a stop he had me by a max of two cars and from a roll maybe 1 1/2.

My car is pretty much stock (Flowmaster and K&N) is this the norm?

Not really tech but an LT1 ?????

Yes. Last summer my younger brother whomped me with his 30th. It was a race until we grabbed 3rd. Game over. Oh well, I knew that going in.

The WS6 must have been an automatic if he only got 2 cars. The M6s start putting buslengths on us after 90mph.

The M6 and LS1 are a match made in heaven. I don't know why there is so much difference between A4 and M6 LS1s. Two of my friends (they're brothers) have each and the M6 is CONSIDERABLY faster.

I would have to agree with him, although Ive never raced a modded LS1, but Im sure they would be difficult.

My buddy has a 2000 SS, and I pull him by a good car length or so from a 60mph roll. (both M6's) We have never really raced from a dead stop or from a slower speed. We usually hit them on the highway.

Anyways, those cars are supposed to dyno 310 -320 rwhp bone stock. Our poor LT1's only came with 285 and thats not to the rw's. How unfair is that!

It was a M6 when I race autos it's almost even. We raced to my speed limiter and he never really pulled that bad on me. We messed around quite a few times and the results were always the same. His only mod was a Lid and a K&N filter.

He actually knew how to drive a M6 too, thats pretty rare around here. With my bald Kumho's I ran a best of 13.996 and a worst of 14.385.

I dont doubt it. Some people dont believe this but its true. I will be the first to admit that no 2 cars run the same.

When my LT1 was basically stock. Just a CAI, air foil, 3'' Flow Master muffler, and my Hurst shifter. I beat a LS1 Z28 from a roll. Now I have headers and alot more mods, and I barely pull on my buddies 2000 SS. His car is a freak though. It is alot faster than any other stock LS1 ive ridden in or driven. Oh yeah, he does have a HPP, K&N filter, and exhaust but nothing major.

Friday at the track I seen many LT1's pulling 14.7 + timeslips it was terrible. Mustangs were even worse.

Alot of close to stock LS1's were running 13.5 to 13.9.

No to mention the 12.2 running Silverado X-Cab!!!!

Talking

I love to see LS1s and LT1s running 14s. It makes me feel pretty good with the old L98. Ls1s run on top like mad. the M6s run better (stock) because you can keep them wound up (where they thrash) than you can with an auto. Put a stall in an auto and it's all square and watch out. (still not as fun though)

First of all, It's hard to win against technology. Of coarse if your pockets are deep enough, anything is possible.
Case and point: I raced against my friends '01 LS1 Camaro. Only mods he has are B&B triflow exhaust. He does have a M6.
First race from a dead stop: I stalled out of the hole trying to leave at 2K rpm. He got the jump and pulled a car length on me.( We ran probably a little past the 1/8th mile. I know this because
the last time I went to the 1/8th mile track, I was at the top of 3rd
gear. For this race I remember shifting into 4th before we shut down).
He didn't pull and I didn't gain any.
We ran them back and this time I came out between 3K-35K with my Nittos heated up. I pulled 1 1/2-2 car lenghts out the hole and kept it until we shut them down at the 1/8th mile.
As stated earlier, my friend only has B&B Tri-flow and my mods are in the sig. Had he had the same mods as me, he would have handed me my @$$
LS1 are very strong out the box. With simple bolt-ons the are true demons. Will I ever buy one, NOPE. Simply because I like my car's body style and no matter what mods you have, someone will always be faster.
My post might not have anything to do with the topic, but I just had to put my experience out there so don't flame me

Tim

Not trying to flame but dude your SS stock shouldve run close to 8.8's on street tires. Those arent very good time considering you have a bigger cam, rr's, etc....... especially on DR's.

I pulled my buddies 2000 SS M6 with just bolt ons by a good car length and mine is just a Z28.

LT1 Ponykilla, Your Right...But I have 3 legitamate excuses
1). I usually suck off the line. The pass I made to get the times in the sig was the 1st time @ the track and the Nittos has 32psi in them (the track was already slick as hell). I later learned that I should have dropped the psi to around 18-20 psi.
2)The Superchips tuning is killing me. I need a custom pcm tune very badly from pcmforless.
3)I usually suck off the line

Once this new combo comes together, I shouldn't have to worry about too many cars on the road esp. the ones in my neighborhood

Take Care

When you get it all together running right, i agree, shouldn't have to much trouble with the LS1 boys.

I just picked up a 2000 T/A and the thing is awsome, My buddy has a 2000 Z28 and his is weird fast alls he did was a lid, and a loudmouth and he runs consistant 13.13s at 111MPH with 2.1 60FTs, he needs some nittos and he has a 12sec car. LS1 cars are awsome.

I know your car should be faster than that LS1. With your mods you should be hauling ***.

Pcmforless does some good tuning work. As you can see, I have them also. I am very pleased with there computer programming.
