2000 SS Wheels will not fit 4th Gens
I bought a set of 10-spoke SS wheels off of a 2000 SS. I had them powder coated and mounted. When I went to put them on last night they didn't fit. There is a inner-diameter ring cast into the wheel. It restricts the wheel from being mounted on our 4th Gens. I had to grab an alluminum grinder bit and grind the cast ring out.
Ok, so I fit the wheel on the hub but even though these are factory wheels they are interfering with the shock mount. They aren't exactly rubbing but I can't slid by fingers between the wheel/tire and the upper shock mount... so, I had to order spacers 5/16 with 3 1/4 wheel studs (ARP).
Now I'll need to get everything aligned.
Just keep it in mind when you swap wheels between Camaro generations.

When installing late model wheels on an earlier model (4th gen), having to relieve a little metal off the hub area of the wheel is something that has been highly publicized. Other than that, they should fit without any problem.

I did a search on the topic in Autocross and didn't see what I was looking for at the time. But now that I found that cast ring, I'm sure I'll find about it in the search by asking a more specific search criteria... after the fact.
I've got a 1995 and I only tried to fit on the rear tires last night. I didn't try the front hubs yet. I'm sure they won't grind much but they are within 3/16" of the shock tower brace (wheel at full droop) as well as at the front inner fender well.
Thanks guys.

But when you go to rotate your tires, the front ones will not fit on the back. You will have to clearance them all eventually. It is because the later models changed to a smaller rear axle hub center. It's been talked about a lot. A search will get you more info if you need it.

But you're right, I should have thought about that as I was doing it the first time.

I had the problem with the "ring" that needed to be ground out. I didn't notice any problems with clearance nor have the tires rubbed anything so far.

I didn't have to clearance my 2000 T/A twisties, but I wish I had. I don't even want to discuss what I had to do to get them off the rear. I'm just glad I didn't have a flat and have to do it on the side of the road.
