200 bucks to play with
200 bucks to play with
Well i just bought a hypertech power programmer for my 97Z, and it did make a difference, but not enough. So, i am going to sell it and get 200 bucks around for it. My question is, what should i get as my next mod with that 200 bucks?
I allready have the basic mods...
Air Foil
Intake
Exhaust
Shift Improver
TB Bypass

#16214681 is the part number for the KM and its really easy to install. Just unbolt the computer, take it out, take the little cap off and its right there if memory serves me correctly. In fact, you might want to check if the car has one already if you bought it used.

What does the Lt4 KM do? What about an electric cutout? What else? Gears of course, but i don't know how to put them in.

edit: the LT4 is better at sensing knock, which means it will eliminate false knock that the LT1 module is known to generate... although still not perfect.

Well then it won't give me much power. I have a flowmaster Exhaust, and although not the highest on the performance, i love the sound, so the ecutout probably won't do it for me. The knock module seems like a safety thing or something that might help me, again not something that i will feel or actually get any performance out of. What else?
Throttle body bypass and 8 lap dances

I would look into some 1.6 RR's. Or some SFC's. It really stiffened my car up. Cut out is a good choice too. It is a whole lot of fun.
All BS aside you may consider a PCM tune from one of the supporting vendors here. If you do roller rockers a lt4 KM will be handy. The 2 pcm tuners here can add about 20 hp with a good tune. The rockers are fairly easy if you are detail focused. About 4 hours worth of time if you take your time and clean thing up and what not. Most people i am sure can do it in less. But first timer i think that is realastic.
He's already done the HPP, a tune is not going to add much. You don't have to have new springs, but for good insurance I would put some hot cam springs ($25 at gmpartsdirect.com)
Installation is easy, it just takes some time to adjust them.
