2 questions:smell gas while driving & car runs hot
When I'm driving ,my firebird, I smell gas even at light throttle. Any ideas? Its definetly not a leak. I've triple checked the car. Also, the car seems to be running pretty darn hot on warm days. My mods are in my sig. The car is far from stock. Nothings wrong with the cooling system, just does'nt seem to keep up. I'm running a high stall converter and a lot of boost. I have a 160 thermo and the fans to match. The car will climb to 200 on a hot day when in traffic or going up my mountain. I know the blower will make more heat. Just wandering if there was any way to improve the cars cooling ability. Thanks in advance for any help.
are you still running your emissions on your car?, the leak may come from your canister if you still have emissions.i would scan the car see how lean or rich the car is running first. its obvious you said you checked the car and there are no leaks which is a good thing. thats the only thing i can tell you and go over all your lines and check your fuel pressue also. don't forget the smallest leak in your gas tank can cause a hefty small even while cruising or low throttle acceleration. its got something to do with the wind carrying vapors into the car like a vacuum. hope this helps at all
A friend of mine has an Acura legend and he smelled gas big time only on start up,and it turned out to be the gaskets that go on the injectors .Hope this helps.(He says it runs better now as well with the new rubber gaskets.)I really don't know if these cars even have gaskets.Hope this helps.
I just have a mail order tune, so it might be running rich. It doesnt blow any black smoke and the plugs look very clean. I think that maybe the LT4 cam might have something to do with it. It is not exactly a blower cam. I also have a header leak which may be why I'm smelling fuel. The fuel smell seems to be worse lately though. Any more ideas?
