2 opti in less than 10k gone out

I have a 94 Camaro Z28 6 speed. My stock distributor went out at 126k. So I had a GM certified repair shop that specialize in restoring Corvettes replace the stock distributor. At the time they replaced the stock distributor, I had just put new NGK plugs, MSD wires, MSD coil, and MSD digital 6 ignition box. I got about 6500 miles out of that one before it went out. Since it was still under warranty I took it back and they replaced it. They tried to say it was because of the MSD ignition box. So I left it unplugged. Now this one is going out about 3k on it. I have even added an extra ground strap to the coil. I have checked everything out like on SHOE BOX site, and I am getting over 11 volts to terminals A & D, but not showing any volts for B. I am getting codes 16 low res fail & 36 hi res fail on Datamaster. Does anybody have any ideal what could be causing this. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

What mods have been one to the car? Can't see how the MSD digital 6 ignition box is at fault if installed correctly. Sometimes you get a bad unit. Maybe your unlucky or lucky if still under warranty.

The MSD would not cause failure of the optical portion of the opti, IMHO. Your codes seem to indicate optical failure. Make sure the electrical harness to the opti is in good shape.

I have done a continuity test on the opti harness and all the wires are reading continuity. Both connectors look good as well. It may be that I have just got 2 bad distributors.

Most recommend the stock Delco opti.

I've got an MSD opti - it's billet and vented. Only other opti i'd run is delphi. Check out my thread on Iridiums here in LT1. One guy thinks running am ign comps is harder on the opti.
