2 Clylinder Misfire
2 Clylinder Misfire
got a 96 camaro z28 lt1, 6 speed misfiring 2 cylinders cant figure out what it is new opti, new fuel filter, new cold air intake, new egr, new fuel pump, cant figure out whats goin on any suggestions? ive read so many forums on here and cant figure it out, o and new plugs and wires
Re: 2 Clylinder Misfire
i checked the obdII scanner and all that came up was the temperture sensor on the front of the water pump but i still gotta replace it so no worries there. i somehow think it jumped time on me. everything else is new only thing that aint new is ICM and coil but i dont think itd start at all if those were bad. the injectors r getting fuel because i get a backfire at 3000 rpms thats y i think its the timing. i got no power. its got a 393 full posi so i kno when its screwing up
i wanna thank u guys for any help u can offer i could use it ive been thru it all. i might just get a new computer then have it done for all the extras

Re: 2 Clylinder Misfire
You mentioned OBDII scanner. Is this an enhanced scan tool, or a code puller? The enhanced scan tool will show the individual cylinder misfire counts.
The P0300 can be a tricky one to track down. Lots of people have posted about that one, but no one comes back to say what it was. The times I've had it, it was always a plug wire.

Re: 2 Clylinder Misfire
I used the enhanced one and said it was misfire p0305 so cylinder 5 is misfiring and we pulled injector plug 2 and 4 and made no difference so its a headache lol

How did you come to that conclusion??????
If that is correct, you should have a misfire code for 2 and 4 also. Did you pull the clip off #5?
So now exactly how do you know it's the injectors causing any problem? Simply because when you pulled them off, nothing changed????????
You never said anything about a code but provided a link to 118. Do you still have any codes?

Re: 2 Clylinder Misfire
the only code i get with a regular code puller is random misfire but with the better scanner i get it on #5. 2 and 4 work one minute and not the next so i ordered new injectors they r on their way. when i get them i will install em and clean my fuel rail just to make sure everything is workin right. if their is still a problem i will let it be known. after that ima sit down and think what else it could be. if the icm was bad it wouldnt start? how about the coil? we'll see how these injectors improve it or keep it the same then go from there.
Re: 2 Clylinder Misfire
Get some brake cleaner and pull out each injector and inspect them. Clean them out. If your car has been sitting for a while you probably have some rust running through the line and clogging one of them, would definitely cause the misfire.
Just pull them out and look down the hole, if you cant see all the way down them, spray it and try again!
Might as well check them anyway, they're easy to get to and it takes 20 minutes, no sense in buying new ones if you can just clean them.
