Gears are a very important mod to do if you inted to build up the engine later. Going from 2:73's to 3:73's will be a noticable change. You will get a lot better punch off the line and a lot better throttle response. The car will bite harder. With an A4 3:73's are perfect. I assume that's what you have. Just remember that you will need to get a new diff. because the carrier for the 2:73 is different from the one for the 3:73's. SLP has the Zexel torsion diff for like $100.

Definitely noisier on the freeway, but great acceleration from dead stop.

Yeah lowest is 2.73's. I know this because I am cursed with them until I get some money. Actually, they are pretty cool, but I want 12's soooo.

You do not need to buy a series 3 carrier. I would just stick with your series 2 carrier and buy a 3.73 designed for that carrier. I would recommend going with a Strange gear.

I've never heard anything bad about GM Motive gears. That's what I have and they are perfectly quiet.

Well will probably lose anywhere from 2 tenths to 3 tenths.

Talking

I went from 273's to 410's with an a4 also. Your going with 373's so traction is still going to be a problem for you.You will like the change.

Richmond has one of the best gears out there. They are probably one of the strongest because the teeth are not as round at the ends.

almost all gears will be good IF they are installed and setup properly. that is the key. i have GM Motive's with about 10,000 miles on them and they are quiet as can be.
