while driving the z28(m6), if i dont come to a complete stop before i try to put it in first it will grind... if i am at a stoplight or something, it goes into first with no problem... starting off in 2nd is no problem, but i would just like to find out what you guys think it could be... ive had autos the majority of my life and i am not that familiar with manual trannies.. also, if you know what the problem is, is it something that i get fixed at a tranny shop? or even do myself?

it's probably your 1st gear syncro, mine does the same thing every once and a while.

 

I'm with JDMZ28 most likely one of the notorius syncros. Unless its real bad, dont worry about it.
