Well its was suggested that the car I jsut bought is a 1LE car, two things came up with this;

1. How do I tell if it is or not?

2. What makes 1LE better?

6 speed car, no stereo (I think), manual locks and windows. Bigger front and rear sway bar. I think thats about it.

Ok it is a M6, has Bose, and manual everthing, no fogs.
I was told that it was a factory order, that the bose and tilt wheel where added as options.
Its also a SS, with the suspention, hurst, torsen, exhaust, and the body stuff of course.

Doubt it, thirdgens didn't get AC with 1LE. Also, didn't the 1LE's get bigger brakes and lighter driveshafts?

96+ 1LE's could have AC along with just about every other option. Only way to tell for sure if it is a 1LE is to look at the build codes - it will be either in the glovebox or the driver's door jamb. Look for build option 1LE.

On the 4th gen F-bodies, 1LE included an aluminum driveshaft, harder durometer bushings in the rear LCA's, panhard bar, front upper and lower control arms, bigger front anti-sway bar (the rear was the same size from 94 or 95+), stiffer springs and a harder durometer transmission mount. Brakes and gas tank were the same between 1LE and non-1LE cars.

Check the RPO codes. They should be in the center console. If you have a 1LE, it will list the 1LE code.

Third gens had the aluminum DS, fourth gens had steel - at least until '96 i believe? Alot of info on this at 1LE.net, if it's still up?? If not, do an internet search for 1LE camaro, more than you can read in one sitting.
