1LE vs HotCam

What are the differences between the two? From what I can gather from this forum, it looks like the 1LE puts out like 50 more horsepower? Do they both idle/handle the same way? How about the gas mileage on both of them? I'm not looking for like 30mpg but I certainly wouldn't want 13mpg either.

How long has this 1LE been around? I've been away from the forums for a while as my car has been mothballed for two years, but it's getting ready to come out within a month or so. Thanks in advance for the replies...

Laymaster, are you asking if the LE1 cam alone makes 50hp more than the HotCam? I could see the LE1 heads and cam doing that, but not just the cam. You need to talk to Lloyd if your serious about the package. Very pleasant man to talk to.

Do u mean the LE1 package? It will put you at about 380 rwhp with about the same driveability as the hotcam.

There is not an 1LE cam, but there is a LE1 (Lloyd Elliot 1). As for the cam making 50 more horse at the wheels over the Hotcam, probably not going to happen unless you have the head package as well and all the supporting mods. As for Lloyd, he is very respected on here and very willing to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks for clearing that up for a second I was very confused. I said "when did a 1LE make 380hp and have special cam and heads?"

Thanks for the quick answers guys. Like I said earlier I haven't been on the board much in the past few years and this LE1 cam is news to me. I was just curious as it compared to the hotcam setup. I have had a hotcam that I purchased years ago but have never had an opportunity to get around to (the hotcam kit). Before I was to go install this thing (which I had hoped to get around to this year) I wanted to know the differences between the two. An LE1 cam kit which includes heads and cam for like $1200 seems like a pretty good steal of a deal especially if it makes 50 more horse.

It is a pretty good deal. Awewsome heads for the price. And the cam out performs off the shelfers with similar specs / driveability issues.

I have the LE 1.5 cam which nis the LE 1 camk with a tad more lift, this will net a tad more torque.

The LE 1 cam is a "bigger" cam than the hot cam with the same street manners. The hotcam and many other "shelf" cams are old technology where Lloyds stuff is a bit more refined. I think he has made changes for the better over the years.

Will the LE 1 cam make 50 more HP over the hotcam, not a chance. But if you factor in ported heads then that is a fair statement.

I really like may cam since it drives 95% the same as stock and revs higher to get the overall better performance.
