1LE driveshaft

I've heard carbon fiber drive shafts will give you power gains of about 5%. What do you think a 1LE aluminum driveshaft will give you?

ALuminum Driveshafts don't give you anything really other than a Vibration free drive. Nice of GM to finally put them on stock LS's while they left us with the crappy Steelers. I got an Inland empire off summit... Awsome

As for the Carbon Fiber...it's allot lighter than aluminum so I guess it's less weight stress to turn the Diff assembly. I guess it can free up some nice Hp. like .0005hp but for 800bucks why bother?

Only problem with the LS1 driveshafts is that they're prone to snapping at higher torque...there are some great steel DS's in production that can minimize vibration at higher speeds yet retain the strength...

People have seen a 1mph gain going from a steel to an aluminum DS in the 1/4...

The 1LE will give you gains but I doubt the LS1 will give you much, the difference between the steel DS & the LS1 is not very much, the steel one is 2.75" & the Alluminum is 3.5", the 1LE however is 2.75" alluminum & its internally balanced as apposed to the LS1/Stock Steel that has a big dampner on it which weighs more then the DS , the 1LE doesn't have it & its 2.75" & its alluminum, which is why its just a better DS, & I belive its stronger then the LS1 style, also has less clearance issues.

the less rotating mass in motion the better... but I can't justify spending that much for a carbon fiber DS... I'd go aluminum 1LE

If your thinking about picking up an Aluminum driveshaft as a Performance mod...it's not really worth it. Only real difference is the weight.

If your getting it becasue you did a gear swap and your car vibrates...but you don't want to get the Steeler balanced...then go with an aluminum driveshaft.

IF your interested in getting a 1LE you can get one of ebay for cheap. like $130.

If you want a new one don't buy the 1LE from GM perfomrance there's allot of aftermarket manufacturers that sell them for the same price and are much better constructed. I chose inland empire because it is a better build quality.
