1997 timing cover part number
I was replacing a bad water pump, which let to replacing the cap and rotor on my 97 Z28 with 108000, while replacing the opti seal I couldnt figure out how to get the old seal out and busted off a piece of my front cover, so now I got to pull the hub to relace the cover so might as well replace the timing gear, the motor is basically stock. I searched all the posts I could find, just need to verify my parts list is correct, thanks:
GM-10128285 GM OEM Stock Replacement Timing Chain for LT1
GM-10206039 GM OEM Stock Replacement Cam Timing Gear LT1
GM-10128346 GM OEM Stock Replacement Crank Timing Gear LT1
GM-12552426 Engine Front Cover (will it come with the gasket?)
or will I need
GM-10128293 Timing cover gasket
Am I missing anything? I am considering a new stock damper, but not sure, mine has some cracks in the rubber. Thanks for your help,

I see two mistakes:
1) Timing chain part number is 10128485 for all 93-97 vehicles.
IMHO, if you're going to be in there, I'd go ahead and order a heavier-duty timing set (eg, the HD timing set for LT1/LT4 engines). The stock timing set is pretty weak, even for a stock motor. Just a suggestion...
2) I've got the 1997 timing cover as part number 12552427. The part number that you listed is for the 1995 cover.
All the replacement timing covers should include all three timing cover seals (wp/opti/crank), but NOT the gasket for the timing cover-to-block connection.
You have the correct timing cover gasket number (10128293). You'll need the waterpump coupler o-rings part number 12553792, as well as waterpump-to-block gaskets (10128343). However, any auto parts store should carry the gaskets and seals -- I dont see the need to order GM seals when Autozone carries Felpro. Same thing, really...
3) If you need it, the 1997 hub is part number 12550097, and the balancer is 12551138. I'm not sure if the balancer portion is neutrally balanced like the factory piece, or if you need to order the little weights separately (and/or transfer from old-to-new). Perhaps someone else knows...
That's about all I can think of. Should cover it...

Thanks, for some future reader that part number is:
12370835 Timing Chain Kit "Extreme Duty LT1/LT4"
Im gonna assume that installing that timing set is basically no different than the stock set. If anyone has any experience or advise, please post.
Could someone explain the procedure to pull that opti seal out of the cover in case I ever run into this again? I have read posts that say "pop it out" "simple" "easy" I no more than tapped behind the seal with a small screwdriver and hammer and busted off the back side of the cover where the seal was seated.
