1996 rebuild

Hey, Starting my rebuild with my son. We have a 1996 with 327 and about 400 hp. We have a T5 tranny that needs rebuilt but was thinking going to automatic. Which auto is best and will fit in the factory tranny housing?

Re: 1996 rebuild

How did your 1996 LT1 (Z28???) end up with a "327" and a "T5"? What modifications took it to "400 hp"?

Re: 1996 rebuild

maybe its a typo 1996 meant 1969???

although a T5 in that??

or OP read 327 which is cast on the LT1 5.7 CI motor...and maybe it was an auto converted to a manual using a T5....which will not handle the power of the LT1

Couldn’t have been too important - he signed off 2 minutes after the post, and has never signed back in. Hard to take this seriously.
