hello, i recentlly bought a 95 Ta lt1 with alot of stuff done to it. its been tuned and all. the car ran great for first week or so. now its has a hard start cranks for 20 seconds plus starts with check engine light. or sometimes it can start right up no check engine. I have also had very loud backfires I made a little kid jump on the side of the road it was so loud. sometimes when you start it the rpms hold at 2000 for a good minute before it drops. anyone have a clue what could be wrong. i have changed fuel pump, oxygen senors, and more

it also leaks oil and I took apart the opti spark connections one weekend to find some wires wet. could the opti spark be bad because of the oil leak getting it wet?? please help this car is great when it wants to run I dont want to keep changing things only for it to do nothing.

 

I'd suspect the opti, when mine failed it would backfire so loud I though I was being shot.

Does it run good when the engine is cold, then bad once the car warms up? Not starting right away sounds like a fuel pressure problem,have you tested that?

Scan for codes ... see what the engine light is telling you ....the opti is prone to failue
Find out where the fluid is coming from... on my car the seal on the back of the hood
was dry / cracked / stopped up. ..... causing water to drain down on the intake

 

How do I test fuel pressure and alot of the times if I just start the car with out letting the pump prime it starts right up no check engine light. It will fine like that if u don't push it but if u push it the gun shot comes and check engine will appear. I believe it is running rich.

 

I have scanned the car when the check engine is on I get 56 codes one time 54 another 53 codes it changes I believe I'm doing it wrong

 

What are you using to scan your 95? You have to find out what the codes are for.
