1995 Camaro Z28 Maintanence HELP

Hi all,
I've got several problems with my now 145,000 mile '95 Z28, and I hoping to ask a few questions...
Two days ago I began noticing a jerking/missing throughout all RPM ranges within each gear, and it even back fires at Very High RPM ranges. I had this very similar problem about 70,000 miles ago...It was the Optispark..so I feel pretty confident that it's going bad again. So, I've been looking around for a good price and I've found a new Opti (part # 1104032) for about $230...Do any of you know of any cheaper sources? I've also decided to just change out the spark plugs and wires at the same time (last done at about 80,000 miles)...any suggestions? I was thinking just the old stand by, AC DELCO...

I've also decided to finally fix my Oil Leak issue with the Intake (very common I hear)...Now here's where I need more help...I would like to go ahead and do all important gaskets that have a tendency to leak...Such as the Head Gaskets, Someone mentioned my main seal?...Can you guys help with proper names of gaskets that should be changed and possibly even give part #'s and brand recommendations...

Hope I'm not being too much of a pain...
Thanks for the help...
TIM

I would hold on replacing gasket until you actually have a leak...

Don't order that opti just yet, I have a feeling the root of all your problems is your coil to opti wire. After a long time the electrode on the coil will corrode and a powder will form. When this happens you will get a high rpm miss...

1104032 - Vented Opti ~ $195

If that is a gmpartsdirect price, you know they are going to charge you almost $50 for shipping, right?

I do currently have the oil leak...

That would be great if my problems were just the opti coil wire...
How difficult is this wire to get to?

Yes...it is a GM direct price...didn't know about the $50 shipping fee...

Thanks guys...

Hi Rodrigues...

I check the wire going from the opti to the coil...and yes...I have much White, powder residue...

What's the recommended way to clean this connection...
Steel wire brush?

Thanks,
TIM

Ok...
Check the plug running from the opti spark to the coil...CLEANED the connection and the plug...gave it a test drive and noticed that the jerking/missing wasn't as bad but still present...and I still have the High RPM Back fire...
I guess it is the opti...unless...would a faulty coil cause these problems?

Replace the coil, I bet you your problems will go away. It seems like you have the symptoms of a bad coil, rather than an opti.

Stop assuming its the opti right away, they don't go bad as often as it may seem.

I would have to agree. I did my coil and coil wire and all my problems disapeared. You could just start w/ a coil wire and clean coil connection up so it's metal again. If that doesn't solve your problem, do the coil...

Now my only problem is the rev limited

good luck ~ mj.

Thanks Guys...

Any recommendations/part #'s as to where to get a coil and coil wire...

I'll search around and I'll even look for some how to directions and hopefully change it out on my own...Doesn't look too difficult...

Thanks again,
TIM

I just did my opti last night and I ordered all of this and I only needed the opti and the WP gaskets , the rest of that stuff was not needed , the cam shaft "o" rings were already on the opti

i cost me an extra $1 so it was not a big deal
