1993 Trans AM need info

Ok guys i've seen two cars that i like so far a 1993 trans am and a 1994 camaro Z28

trans am has 160,000km (100,000miles aprox) and the guy wants $8500 canadian e-tested no certification (fully loaded with leather and 6spd)

camaro has 185,000km (115,000miles aprox) and the guy wants $7700 canadian cert. and e-tested (fully loaded except leather, 6spd)

Are these good deals?!? Both cars seem to be in good shape but the trans am seems to be in REAL good shape.

And what problems should i look for in these cars?? and i heard the 93 and 94 year are the worst years for the LT1, is this true??

and one more thing, what are the 1/4 mile time for these cars? anyone know???

thnx for all the info guys!

wow over 200,000 miles, thats insane.... !!! I tell everyone these V8 american engines last forever! no1 believes me

but do you know if i should wait for a newer LT1 car??
like a 1996, or are the 1/4 mile times the same for 93-97???

just somewhere i saw some times that these cars have recorded and the older ones had slower times than the newer LT1's by a few tenths

and the trans ams had slower times than the camaro's!!!

dont the cars have the same power train from the engine all the way to the tires?? and weigh in within 20 pounds of each other?!?

the trans ams and camaros should run nearly the same from ALL YEARS 93-97

there pretty much the same

and as far as the 93-94 being the worst... not really

some ppl perfer those over the newer ones

The 94's and up use flash prom in their computer, which makes it easier to program. Trans Am's weigh about 100 to 200 pounds more then the Camaro's due to differnt styling and more options. The 95's are the best I think. Cuz they have a vented optispark. 1/4 miles times shood be close to 14.2 at 97 mph. The most common problem on these cars is the optispark (distribitor) breaking. To replace it kinda suxs for the first time but can be done. Then there is an intake oil leak. But its nothing major. Mostly these are very reliable cars if drive it right.

Yes those are some good prices.

Wow, 14.8 out of a 93? I went 14.0 @ 98.00 on a very hot day bone stock, on a cooler day it would've dipped in the high 13's for sure. The only downside to a 93 is the optispark isn't vented, but it's only about $200 to convert to a newer vented style one, if you want to. I haven't made the conversion yet, and mine still runs strong. Good luck with whatever you choose

Faster tho...

Make it to 41 often? Buddy from work wants to head up there. I spend most of my time @ Rt. 66.

Yep, I'm there a lot. I have a pic of me there on my site, its not a good pic, but I'm there. I haven't been to Rt. 66, I wanna go though, it would be cool to race on a "proffesional" track. 41 is kind of a hillbilly track, tech inspection doesn't exist (kinda cool in its own ways), and the track itself isn't the best. It usually hooks pretty damn good though, maybe I'll see ya there sometime. Email me when you go, maybe I'll make it out there.
