17x9.5 wheel, tire suggestions?

Im looking for new tires for my ss wheels, and am wondering if anyone has tried a 255 or 245 on the front instead of the steam roller 275s. Just an idea im throwing around. Cheaper, and less rolling resistance. Thanks Prorac1

275/40/17 for me. they dont look so bad you make it sound like they are hideous. you dont want too thin unless you are going to drop the car in my opinion. as far as the tire, the BFGoodrich KDWS has the best treadwear i believe. thats what im running now they work well and the sikes help them last longer. The Eagle F1 is also a good tire.

go to tirerack.com and price them and read reviews, then go to DiscountTire and milk their "we'll beat any price" slogan

245/45/17 is about 2 mm shorter than a 275/40/17. That's what most people do in the front when tire rotation isn't a big issue.

cool, thats what im looking for. But im not doing this as much for the heigth as i am for the width. The sway bar is removed, i have et streets, so i doubt im going to be doing any road racing any time soon. Just looking for some new tires, and i figured why go that wide when i really dont need it. Thanks again, Prorac1

I agree that they are great. I love mine.

The only BIG problem with having 245's in front with 275's in the rear is that you can't rotate front to back. If there is any uneven wear, then you will need new tires much sooner.

Have fun getting GS-D3's . I've been trying for two months now and nobody seems to have them. I beleive they are national backordered until august. I'm going to wait for them though as everyone seems to give them great reviews.

I had 245 on a 9.5" wheel and it looked like crap. Plus you have no curb rash prevention. Stick with the 275. Rolling resistance added probably won't be enough to measure and the trade off isn't worth it imo.
