With long tubes and ORY, I am going to say you will put down 287RWHP. New springs and 1.6's and you will be at around 300RWHP. Those are alot of miles on stock springs and I would bet that you will see a significant gain going to good beehives or something like that with a quality 1.6 RR.

And it is worth it. Just dont be stupid about modding it.

Be realistic. If your not keeping the car forever, dont buy kooks stainless headers etc. If your planning on staying bolt on only, and your going to do all that work anyways, you mind as well buy the GMPP rocker arms. If your going to mod it more later, get high quality heavy duty RR's such as pro mags. On the other side of things, if you dont want to go too crazy, you could always go with the hot cam kit. It ownt really bring your RPM range up too much on stock heads. There would be no reason to spin it past 6200ish. And it would have a significant gain.

For sure do long tubes though they are definatly worth the money.

I reccomend either pacesetters, or kooks ( If you plan to keep the car like forever and are **** about things getting a little rust on them ...)

LT4 springs with the locks and retainers is only around $70. If you get 1.6 rr's, you must upgrade springs, and the LT4's would be the best choice for the money. This and longtube headers should really wake your car up, especially midrange and top end. If you haven't in awhile, it'd be a good idea to do a tuneup with new plugs, fuel filter, and clean the air filter.

Where can i find the LT4 Springs,Locks, and Retainers..Any specific brand Rockers i should go with? Crane, COmp cams blah blah..

If long tubes get done, new plugs, wires will be changed..opt is fairly new on the car and hasnt shown any problems

For a real solid setup that you can run later on even if you cam it or something:

Comp Cam Pro Magnums, 1.6, NSA, 7/16"
Comp Hi Tech 7/16" studs
GM guideplates or ISKY 200AGP's I think its the 200's for our diameter pushrod
Hardened pushrods, any brand really. Rock solid though, go for comp hi techs or something
I wouldnt reccomend the LT4 springs locks and retainers if you ever plan to cam it later. They would be a poor choice for most anything other than a hot cam. They actually are marginal for the hot cam even. Cant go wrong with 918 bee hives from comp. And 10* locks and retainers.

On the other side of things, if you dont plan to go too crazy modding the car, I would suggest the GM hot cam kit. It comes with GMPP 1.6RR, guideplates, LT4 locks springs and retainers, and the GM hot cam. You can get it for around $400. However, I'd get it and sell the springs locks and retainers on here in the classifieds and pick up a set of beehives or something.

www.paceperformance.com. You could go ahead and get Pro Magnums and reuse those if you do end up rebuilding the motor. They're first rate pieces. If not those, look into Harland Sharp or maybe Comp's regular Magnum.

I think i might consider the Hotcam kit on my 140K mile motor..i mean as long as i dont keep beating the hell out of the car, i think i'll be just fine, plus its not my daily driver anymore

You can't go wrong with that. Its a solid performer.

You really would be better off though to get different springs. 918 bee hives are much better than hot cam springs are, even for the hotcam.

Its a cheap investment.

And as long as your motor is in good shape, you could cam it. You just have to be very clean with everything. And watch you dont over rev it with those kind of miles. Anything on stock heads is bottlenecked around 6K so shifting significantly past that on stock heads is, for 99.9% of stock headed set ups, retarded. Dont push it past 6300ish?

If you want to cam your car, have a look at the Comp 224/230 cam. It will work better then the hotcam and still not be too hard on springs. The hotcam kit is cheap, but there are a number of other better grinds out there nowdays.
