13mpg highway and 5mpg city

There is obviously a problem. I ordered the wideband sensors. I have Walbro 255lph pump and 30lb Ford injectors for my setup. My FP is 43.5psi. I was thinking I have not enough fuel, but now I see its running rich. What could be the reasons of this bad gas mileage??

Tune and O2 sensors would be my first guess. Also if it's running that rich and you are using that much fuel then you should check to make sure you aren't washing your cylinder walls down.

Re: 13mpg highway and 5mpg city

Car is tuned by Ion. I know lots of people use 36lb or 42lb injectors without any problem. 30lb injectors are kinda small for a ~500 flywheel hp car. It should have been running lean, not rich.

I have no complaint about my highway mileage, but in the city, in the traffic I want to kill my self.

I always scan, cause I have an endless knock retard issue. Anyway my LTerm Counts are mostly 160. I heard they should be 128 ?? My Sterm Counts are mostly 128.

BTW I swapped from OBD2 to OBD1, so I have no rear O2s.

if your car was getting 5mpg city, it'd practically be dripping gas out of the tips and or smoking a ton. wowsers

Look for vacuum leaks and exhaust leaks. With the Lterms at 160 something is off. The tune is likely close since I have dealth with Ion and he is very good at what he does. I would start with header gaskets, then collector gaskets. If you don't find anything then start searching for vacuum leaks.

I can't remember from your tune, but are you running a closed loop tune still? If so, the cam you have probably has enough overlap to make the O2's see a 'false' lean condition. This 'false' lean condition will tell the computer to add fuel (probably until your blms max out, which is what they're doing). This is why I ditched closed loop and am running an open loop tune. I can help you switch over to open loop and see how it runs. The wideband is a must though.

Yes I'm still in closed loop.

My vacuum looks good, I don't believe I have a leak, but I'll check it. What about exhaust leaks? I'm sure I got some leaks because I heard loud ticking noise coming from my LTs. Could an exhaust leak be the reason of rich running??
