12s is all i want...prefer mid to lows ...high 12s are fine

so with all the the mods in my sig and the ones listed below can i hit 12s
also with stock heads

cam (lifters and 1.6 rockers) - what would be best for me that is street legal
Jethot LT headers with ORY (will be catted at some point)
Stall - how high shoould i go
shift kit and cooler
Nitto drag radials
Tune (prolly madwolf)

thats all i have in thought at the moment ....anything else i would need with those mods and teh ones in my sig to get me into 12s??

3000-3500 stall w/ bolt ons 12's no problem w/ traction

 

Well hooking stalled auto with Long Tubess on tires/skinnies and some suspension should hit mid 12s easily. Throw in a XE224/230/112, GM846 (220/230/112) or just a lil hot cam kit on top of that should be able to hit low 12s all day.

A generally good cam to use with the stock heads is the CC XE224/230. It's docile enough to pass emissions with a good tune, but will scream up top.

A 3200-3500 stall coupled with some sticky tires will put you in the mid to high 12s easily, pending you have the supporting bolt-ons to compliment the new internal motor work.

Gears would also be a must.

 

ive got all the mods that you are looking to put on your car, but none of the suspension mods that you already have and I hit 13.3, but should be good for a 13.2 or 13.1 cuz i cant get the 60ft into the 1.8's or 1.7s.

I have a vigilante 2800 stall and the hot cam kit. So with the suspension stuff that you have, you should be able to hit the 12's pending traction.

 

keep em coming......im kinda new on cams ....adn yes emissions is a factor...but i would like a cam that will pass emissions and also give me the biggest power gain
and 3.73 gears are alo in my list that i want

if you go with the 3000 stall, the 3.42 might be a better choice for your gearing. 3.73 is just gonna make it even harder to get traction. Hot cam kit from GM is definitely emissions legal, im not sure what cams arent tho... it would have to be pretty extreme to make you fail emissions.

Buy some stickies to handle the traction, and go 3000 to 3500 stall with 3.73 rear gears. I would use either the 224/230 XE cam or the CC305.

 

both of those cams can still be emmissions legal???/ thats one of my main problem is emissions
also with the CC XE224/230 or CC305 should i use 1.6rrs and new lifter etc??

also last question, my buddies goign with teh GM847 , wouldnt that be to big to use with stock heads?, meaning hes just having wasted power that he cant use b/c of his heads?

847 isnt too much. Actually some have made really nice numbers with it on stock heads.
I'd go a lil bigger than the 224/230...

 

You don't nessessarly need a large cam to make good numbers. I've got the CC305 with ported heads( I know your useing the stock heads) and the car is very street friendly. I drove a whole year with the stock converter, but noticed very nice gains from the torque converter. I am shooting for high 11s in the next few weeks.

But I think with a torque converter, proper bolt-ons to support, and some traction, You will see high 12s without a problem.

 

argh im getting too much here lol. right now im not to sure what i want, i might just get the hotcam b/c its affordalble, but then teh GM847 was also somthing i was looking into , im kinda lost

opinions here would be nice, hotcam or GM847?
also with a tune will teh GM847 be emisions legal, if not ill jut get the hotcam

 

stay away from the nittos lol especially if you get a pretty good sized stall. some people hook with them but i had no luck at all and i was pretty much stock. not sure about at the track but they wouldnt hook for nothing on the street. and i only had a vigilante 2800. i like my 230/236 cam but i dont know about emissions i havent gotten all of the bugs worked out yet.
