126,000 miles on used LT1.. worth it?

Do you think this is a stable amount of miles on this car for a daily driver?

I bought mine on autotrader with 115k miles. Everything was fine till about 10,000 miles later. I had my auto trans rebuilt, rear end seal started leaking, passenger window motor went out, changed plugs, wires, and coil, heater hose busted, and replaced the alternator. Something tells me that most cars with high mileage on autotrader are gonna need some work. Considering the car is 10-11 years old it's a no brainer that it's gonna need some renewing. btw I have a 145k now.

I would shop around a little more. I got my 95 z28 with 52k on the clock for 6300. Me and my dad saw a lot of other z28's with 80,90, or 100 thousand on them for about 5000. So i would just keep shopping and not get in a hurry i just about bought one with 90 thousand on it before my dad talked to his friend.

for 7,000 you can get a hell of a lot better deal than a car with 126,000 miles...I would never buy a used car with more than 75,000 yet thats just me and my preference (mileage in no way indicates how well a car has been cared for yet it will account for normal wear and even this depends on the cars environment it has been in).
I have seen some of the biggest POS cars with only two years and 25,000 miles on them
you can get a super nice low mileage Lt1 or a higher mileage to not so great LS1 for that money...
wait a few years the LS1's will be coming down in value/price bigtime
Re: 126,000 miles on used LT1.. worth it?
I would say no, simply because it's going to be your daily driver and you know you'll have to dish money out to keep it running or spend a few bucks right off the bat for basic maint. I bought mine for sheer weekend enjoyment, if I had to use it everyday I'd buy something else. I hope not to scare you out of getting what you want but some older LT1's can really be abused. If you're really intent on getting it, take it to YOUR mechanic and have him give it the once-twice over and i suggest checking the compression of each cylinder and transmission...you can count on oil leaks.
I bought mine almost two years ago with 160K on it for 4500 and it was "lame" as I mention in my signature. Some people have called me stupid for doing so because of the shape (engine/trans) it was in but I love bringing a vehicle "back to life". Basically, from what I can tell it was rode hard and put away wet, but what impressed me is the body and interior were almost in perfect condition. This is a list of what i've replaced so far, and it runs as smooth as any i've been in, or smoother...T56 complete rebuild w/B&M ripper shifter, new clutch, wires, plugs, water pump & seal, distributor/rotor & seal (leakin oil pretty bad), belt, all hoses, injectors, flushed radiator, thermostat, fuel filter, struts for the back hatch (hatch wouldn't stay open).
Those were the big ticket items that you might be in for when/if you buy yours. (rebuilding the trans $HURT$
, but MAN it's tight now!
)
GOOD LUCK!!

I paid 6000 for my 94 A4 Z28 2 years ago. The thing was untouched, and beautiful except for the paint showed a little age, but nothing horrible (NO scratches, dents, dings, etc) The car had 41,000 miles on it. 6000 for 3 times the mileage is NOT worth it IMO. If it were rebuilt, etc etc etc I would wanna know by who, and see reciepts and then maybe consider it.
Re: 126,000 miles on used LT1.. worth it?
I got a hellified deal on mine 5 years ago. $7200 and the guy that owned it (a buddy of mine) had just spent several thousand dollars on it for some performance mods. Borla cat back, Wings West ground effects kit, Accel 300+ ignition, Lt4 knock module, K&N CAI, and March underdrive pullies. He had just put this stuff on there and didn't even have a chance to open her up before i bought it.

What you see is what you get. Don't restrict yourself by only looking for a car within spitting distance. Often if you look outside your area (even state) you can find exactly what you are looking for and it may turn out to be just a bus ride away. When you locate one, do everything you can to find out about the car before you buy your ticket.
I'd sooner buy from an original owner :your going to get the same guarantee which is "guaranteed for the the first 10,000 miles or the first 10 minutes whichever comes first".JMHO
Just talked with my mech. who bought a 98 LS1 at auction for 4 grand.
Needs lots of work, but if you've got 7000 grand that would give you 3 grand to play with. Just a thought.

I'd look into who/where is selling it. I got my SS with almost 140K on it from an exotic dealer. Some very rich people owned it and took good care of it, then traded it in. The only problem I've had was putting a new waterpump in. It runs great and strong for a stock car. Plus I got it in North Carolina.
Good Luck
