12.2@112

Well still not where it SHOULD be, but it is ok at least.

http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/d...2211217860.flv

That is not my BEST run of the night, but close. 12.27@112.1 w/ a 1.78 60' that run, I did run a 12.21@112.4 w/ a 1.68 60' earlier in the night. Lately I am only getting 3 runs in since I moved here, so not as much practice time as im used to. I finally deleted the knock sensor from the tune (max knock = 0) and that is how it is 12.2s now. I only ran it twice like that, both 12.2s. I know there is more in it, there was a good headwind. I am getting happier slowly, I now officially know my tach is off. I was thinking I was close to rev limiter at the end of the track... now I know something is up with the tach for sure. That means I have been shortshifting every gear since I built this motor. Good for the motor I guess, bad for times. My speedo says about 109 mph and my trap says 112+, so that is a good bit of mph. I will try and get a real tach reading for next time at the track. I carried my gears out a little more on the last run and it helped, next time I may be in the 11s just running it to the right rpm and a good launch!

Please, spare me the "it should run better" guys with the 10 second stock motor/rear crap. thanks

Do you have any kind of ignition box? You can hook a shift lite into it and use that for accurate shifting. My lite is hooked to my MSD.

it cost me about $3k, but I bought the internals and block used. I also built it myself.

Don't worry if someone has negative things to say. Your car runs strong and will most likely be in the 11s soon. Good job.

Looks good! I ran 11.80s with the same trap speed as you. Work on those '60 times. Play with the shift rpm to see where the cam likes to live. Great job! Looks like 11s to me!

Whoa, those are similar times to my LE2 cam/stock unported heads car. I also had problems on every run, but still managed very similar times. Id look into an aftermarket shift light, and launch harder cuz those 60ft's need work. Also, I dont know if your on the stock fuel pump but with those 42#'s you might need more fuel than it can handle. My car was starved for fuel past 4k rpm, but with the added cubes and injectors you might want to look at an after market pump. With that race weight you "should" be in the mid 11's once you get everything dialed in. Still not bad, but lots of room for improvement, good luck!

BTW- With the heat reaching the low 100's down here in TX lately, I think the car has some 11 sec passes in better weather.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The tune is a PCMforless tune with knock disabled (max knock = 0deg) basically, the weight was with me in the car and a 30pack of beer, but when I weighed at the track that night (pass seat in) for some reason it was 3430. I think I must have had a lot of gas in it too. That or the difference in scales (first time was at a truck stop). The track that day was pretty humid, and ~80deg, so probably 1000-1400 DAs. I will see if anyone calculated it out. ALSO- forgot to mention, horrible headwind which is why my MPH was so low. The time before that with worse 60's I was almost at 114s.

I have no clue what the "actual" RPM is. I realized on that run videoed (last run) that I got the same time as my previous run with a .1 worse 60'. my launch before that almost lifted the tires, 1.689. I just short shifted that run and ran a 12.2 then as well. Either that or I was shifting too early.

Anyone heard of a Houston shop that will tune a LT1 well? I am still stuck between getting a throttlebody, longtubes, or a real tune. Later this season I will have the nitrous hooked up too. Just not sure what to do.

UPDATE -
my clutch is almost definitly slipping.

I have been suspecting it for a while (maxing out 4th gear at ~115 mph isnt right with 4.10s and 26" tires).

I was driving it the other day, get the low RPM WHURRRR sound. The car is just so damn loud you have to listen so closely its nearly impossible to hear.

Who rebuilds a t56 RIGHT? If I am pulling it why not...

Depends what your rev to, 115mph could be dead on in 4th gear.
