1.7 rr ?'s
1.7 rr ?'s
My mods are listed below. I want scorpion 1.7 rr because i am not going to be doing a cam switch since i got the spray. I am going to use beehive springs, gm guideplates, new locks, retainers, seats, pushrods, and valvecurvers.
I dont want the comp rr because of the problems they have been having lately, I don't want to deal with that stuff.
questions:
1) where and which kind of locks, retainers, seats, PUSHRODS, and valvecovers should i get?
2)what length of pushrods do i need?
3)Any problems out of the scorpions?
Thanks for you help and I appreciate the responses.

Re: 1.7 rr ?'s
Are you saying that I don't need new pushrods for the 1.7's. I thought there was problems with the high rpms with factory pushrods. I dont really know what is consider "higher rpms"; my car has no computer work done and shifts at factory points.
As for the sound, I heard that all roller rockers are loud. I figured i might as well get the ones that would give me the most gain.

Re: 1.7 rr ?'s
Thanks! Im glad to hear that I dont have to worry about buying new pushrods.
In ones opinion, are the 1.7's worth it or should I just get the 1.6's. because according to my research putting in 1.7's is sort of being compared to buting in a small cam because one gets so much more lift.
How yeah, as for the seats and all the other stuff, just getting the same size should be fine right.

Re: 1.7 rr ?'s
Putting in 1.7's from 1.5's will increase the lift from .447 .459 increased to .506 .520
So yes in a way it is like adding a small camshaft.
I'd recommend 987 springs since they're fair priced and are good to .600 lift.

Re: 1.7 rr ?'s
That is a lot to read so...
Here is what I actually planned on doing with my heads when ever I get spare money...or any money at all.
-Stock studs: 3/8" I do not plan on turning or gaining enough power for the extra 7/16"
-987 Springs, double bound, .600 lift
-1.7 rockers, don't plan on getting a cam
-10* titanium retainers (stock is 7*)
-1.550 O.D. spring seats.
-10*, 11/32" stem lock
I believe the stock guide boss for spring seats is .557
Personally I'd recommend the 10* retainers and locks but the stock 7* is also fine. You also don't need titanium, I just don't like having to buy things twice. So there you have it, a planned valvetrain for 1.7 rr's and a .506 lift.
Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Re: 1.7 rr ?'s
Can buy 1.7's here.
As far as what needs to be done?
Well if you want to be cheap about it; I would say just changing the valve springs since they cannot handle the lift. But really more should be done, might as well change the valve seals, get new locks, such and such.
