1.7 rockers
1.7 rockers
Okay, Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think the stock cam in 93 is 450/450 lift right? I did the calculations and if I use 1.7 ratio rockers that will put me at 510/510 lift. Would that be the same as doing a small cam?
you gotta love those answers... The lift would be higher, and though I am not an Lt1 expert, I have understood higher lift to mean more air flow therefore higher rpm power. But the duration would not be any different. Thats why cams give you about 30-50 HP and rockers just give you about 15... although if you went from 1.5's to 1.7's you should get anywhere from 20-35 from what I have read.

I thought that "no" was a good answer.
A camshaft is ground to specific rates of duration and lift. That lift is multiplied by the rocker arms pushing on the valves.
Changing the ratio of the rockers changes the way the rockers act on the valves and the lift of the valves off the seats respectively.
Opening the valves for a longer period of time or opening them "more" is one of the determinging factors in how much fuel/air is going to be introduced to the combustion process. Usually, more combustable misxture equates to more power.
Different cam profiles provide different results based on the power plant's capacity, etc.
So, is multiplying the lift of the camshaft, the "same" as changing the camshaft? NO. JMHO
