1.6 RR's....need the LT4 Valve Covers???
I heard somewhere that you have to run the composite LT4 valve covers to keep the noise from screwing with the knock sensor?
Is this true?? |
my car without the lt4 valve covers pulls 4 degrees of timing above 4000 rpm...so if that is normal then you dont need them...if that is too much let me know...lol

Getting an LT4 knock module could be a cheaper solution. The sensor would still pickup noise, but the module isn't as sensitive. Having both would be great.
I'm thinking about getting some LT4 valve covers. They look really nice and I wouldn't have to modify my stock valve covers. But I don't think that's worth $150... |
Don't waste the $$$ on the LT4 valve covers, it's not required. Just spend the $36 for the LT4 knock module and you'll be fine. I'm running RR's with stock valve covers and doing fine.

Do you have self aligning rrs? becasue if you do they are louder than if you go with non selfaligning with hardened pushrods and guideplates. I would go with the knock module for starters because it does make knock with rrs. You prolly still will have a small amount of it even with the module so the best bet is to get both. Plus the new valve covers will look good. you could get different valve covers not just lt4 but you dont need them

I didn't need them when I did the LT4 conversion on mine, the stock ones worked fine.
