1.6 rockers on stock, Also puff of blue smoke on exhaust.

Hi everyone,

Its a 95 LT1 camaro z28 setup. I pretty much have a stock setup running (stock cam). Just headers. I would like to go to 1.6 rockers if possible (will they hit the stock valve covers?). Would the 1.6's but worth it?My other question where could I get a maybe a kit that included everything (springs, rockers, studs if needed and so on)? Also lately I have developed a puff of blueish smoke and arough idle after it has been sitting for a while. I think its a valve stem seal or something of that nature. Any opinions? Just trying to get ready to buy the stuff to do it all togeher while I am going to be in there.

Thanks,
Howard

Depending on the brand of rockers you go with, you may need to trim the internal webbings of the stock valve covers. I have Crane Gold 1.6s, but purchased aftermarket covers, so I could not tell you about clearance issues. Some people have them, some do not. 1.6s would net you anywhere from 5 to 15HP. Make sure you upgrade the valve springs with at LEAST the LT4 springs (good to .550" lift).

Blue smoke is oil. When you replace the valve springs, you should replace the valve seals along with them. Good luck.

I have been asking about the 1.6's for a awhile now and Have found out that you really should replace the springs. Some one said without doing the springs it's like playing russian roulette....If a spring binds or colapeses thats big trouble..to me it's not worth it.

WHat aftermarket valve covers did you go with ? Any issue with the alternator hitting them?

Here is set of rockers at thunder racing I am looking at. I was informed I would have to modify the instead of the sotck valve covers (the webbing inside needs to be grinded off with a dremial tool I guess).

63-1318-16 Comp Cams Pro-Magnum Self-Aligning Roller Rocker Arms, 3/8" stud, 1.6 Ratio $329

They were really helpful there. Any what do ya'll think? Its a daily driver.
