Are you planning on a cam? Because without a cam the rockers will gain you about nothing.

Eh, it's good for 10-15rwhp. But, considering for an extra $100-200 you can make an extra 15-50rwhp, I'd get a cam.

ive been asking here for a little while now how much it will cost for labor for a cam install and what parts i needed exactly but got no answer at all. Im considering the 1.6 rockers mainly because its easier to install then a cam and less parts needed to replace. I dont trust anyone to take my cam out and drench the opti or damaging anything else the 1.6 rocker install has possibilities as well for something bad to happen but less of a risk.

See my hotcam checklist thread, it's on the first page.

It's up to you. Springs, Rockers, Cam are a given, and you'll need to figure out what you need based on your cam. (Cheap LT4 springs aren't going to work on a big cam like a GM 847)

I'm probably going to replace the timing chain and the lifters. Not required, but I like peace at mind when I sleep at night.

At a minimum the springs should be changed. 1.6's are good for 10-12 rwhp.
If you are not doing a cam change however, I'd recommend going with 1.7's.
I ran 1.6 s/a Promags for 4 years with 26918 springs. My car dyno'd 299.5 rwhp 330 tq. and ran 12.97 et. I changed to 1.7 scorpions with guide plates and chromoly pushrods, hit the dyno and put down 309 rwhp, 336 tq. That's 10 rwhp over 1.6's. To back it up the car ran a 12.86 et. @ 3900#

You say in your second entry you have asked about labor costs and then you say you don't trust anyone, so the information your giving is in direct opposition to one another - which are you looking for? It's hard to help you when you don't give us the proper information. Just adding 1.6 rockers will not really gain you anything but probably broken springs then you'll be back here asking how much to rebuild your motor. Do it right the first time and save yourself money and headaches in the long run. Whether you do it yourself or have someone do it is a decision you need to figure out for yourself.

when i say i dont trust anyone mean a mechanic to do a cam install, im trying to figure out if anyone else trusts a good mechanic to do the job because i dont know of any, usually the ones i go to will complain about how difficult it is and its a given because if it was easy id jump in and do it myself without a thought. I will change the springs and ive heard of doing scorpion 1.7's but heard you would have clearnace issues but im not sure on that. Ill definitly look into the scorpions then if im gonna do it i might as well do the 1.7's. Do you guys think with guidplates, hardend rods, and lt4 springs i would be ok.
