1.5 or 1.6 rr with xe 230/236 cam?

Which would you choose? I'm using the crane 10308 springs...

I'm using Comp 987 springs with a 1.6 rocker on the XE 230/236 cam.

You'll love it.

Really? you think there's much difference in price from 1.6 RR to 1.5 RR? I'm going rollers either way, it's just a matter of picking out a ratio.

you can pick up a set of new?used 1.5rr on thr board all the time. and it would be easier on your valve trane with the lift coming from the cam.

get 1.5, give me 8. I'll give you 8 1.6's.

1.5s will provide better valvetrain geometry (not that it will really make much difference with your combo). IMO, i would have Cam Motion make you a custom grind with all the lift you need, and do 1.5s

just looked on the 4sales section and a set of comp 1.5rrs sold for 60 buck.

agian i would have a custom grind done. call cmotorsports and talk to seth. he seems to be a straight shooter.

If you already have the rockers, that's one thing. If you have to buy them, then there is no price difference from 1.5 to 1.6. I bought new ones and the price listed for the Comp Pro Magnums was the same whether you wanted 1.5 or 1.6 and 3/8 or 7/16 studs. Since I had to get new studs and guideplates anyway, I went with the 7/16 size and 1.6.

Yeah, that was my point too... just wondered if I would have any problems with coil bind or piston to valve clearance, issues with drivability, etc. I don't have the rockers yet...they're next on the list

Other cams don't have as aggressive ramps as the XE series. Thats one of their key features.

Also you would need all 16 rockers to be 1.6 not half and half like a cc305.

How do you figure that? The pivot point has not changed. Lift at the valve, is lift at the valve, regardless of what generated the valve movement. You have one choice (short of changing the pivot point) to improve upon a lousy situation, that being adjusting the pushrod length.

Personally, if I wanted a certain amount of lift at the valve, I consider a higher ratio rocker easier on the cam.

Why would a person need 16 rockers of the same ratio?
