1.46" springs on stock heads, locators?

Alright, Im sure its been asked before but I couldnt find it. Im looking to put 1.46" springs on a set of lt1 heads... obviously the stock locators wont work. What are my options? I heard use just shims, but they wont really locate the spring on the head. Any help definitely appreciated!

Anyone? Ive basically got the parts, but wont commit to them until I know I can use them. They are k800's with 7* locks and titanium retainers.

I guess I don't know what "locators" are---I do believe, however, that stock seats will accommodate 1.46 OD springs.JMHO

You can just use the shims that come with the K-800s as seats. Make sure you shim the spring to the correct install height.

Yeah... seats, locators... I never know exactly what to call 'em. I dont think the stock ones go over 1.25.

So just use shimstock eh? I was going to do the installed height properly, just didnt know if shims alone would keep the spring from walking around.

You need to use a spring locator to keep the spring from walking all over the place. You need the OD of the guide boss, and the ID of the spring, then call comp and order off this chart...

I believe the guide is .557", you will have to measure your spring ID.

You don't need the locators in order to keep the springs from moving. I have ran a few sets of springs w/out locators, just shims - as have a couple of my buddies, with zero problems. Certainly doesn't hurt to run locators though.

Gotta have locators to keep the valve spring stable and concentric to the valve stem at the bottom. The retainers do the job at the top.
