For ’93 owners or anyone who is running a 700r4

I am trying to sell the 700r4 I used to have in my truck. There is a guy I talked to today that is interested in buying it from me, but wants to know if it will fit in a 94 firebird. I told him that the physical dimensions would allow fitment. He told me to check to see if there are some mounting holes on the end of the tranny for the torque arm to bolt up to. Well I checked and didn’t find any holes on the tail housing. What I’m asking is if there are supposed to be mounting holes on the tail housing for the torque arm to mount to, meaning maybe there is a difference in the tail housings on the 700r4 for an fbody and 700r4 in a truck and maybe they can just be swapped out.

i think it will fit, but the 94 and up f-bods used an electronic tranny (4L60E). not a 700R4(4L60). so as far as fitment i think it would fit just not work right, but i maybe wrong

It will fit. He needs a tailpiece from a 700 that came off a f-body. It won't take the electronics. If he has a standard in there now and sets up the 700 with a manual valve body it will work. He won't have any backup lights and the speedo will be waaaaay off.

I'm running a 700 now in mine. I disconnected the speedo.

The 700 is not a very strong transmission so if his car is reasonably modified he will break it in short order.

so all that needs to be done is swap out the tail housing, good. before I replaced the 700r4 with the t56, I had the tranny built pretty strong by a reputable guy in town and ran it behind the same motor I have now (lt1) for a little while. the guy looking to buy the tranny is puting his car back to stock, i guess he is selling it or something, so no issues concerning too much power. Its also fully hydraulic with the torque converter lockup done via a hydraulic pressure swtich. so no wiring issues other than the speedo, which can be resolved with a speedo recalibration box made by dakota digital. In fact you may want to check it out for your setup. its what im using to calibrate between the mixed speedo pulse widths of the different trannies so that my speedo reads accurate. www.dakotadigital.com thanks for the reply
