Question $300 for SFC install?

I`m usually the do it your selfer, but I`ve never done SFC`s before and I heard a few horror stories. Well I know of a local Chassis shop that does driveline stuff and roll cages, and he said he`d do it for $300. Is it worth this to have a proffessional do it? I don`t really wanna torch my interior or a fuel line, and if he does, well, it`s on him, right? Opinions needed.

Shoot over East to Akron and have it done. I wouldn't pay more than $100 to do this. Only a moron could catch the interior on fire. You don't run a continuous bead, that creates an intense amount of heat. Run 6 inch beads and the move on to another spot.

Hahaha, thats CRAZY!

I paid less then 300 TOTAL to buy my New Kenny Brown DD SFC and have them welded...

I actually only paid like 170 for the SFC and got them welded for like 50.00 at my speed shop..
I cant believe that quoted you 300.00. Thats 6X what i paid. Even 100.00 is way too much...75.00 is probably the most i'd pay.

What is his shop rate and how many hours does he expect to spend on this job? $300 is way too much.

Is he making you some custom subframe connectors? I can't quite tell from your message. I must agree with the others. If it's $300 simply for the install that's too much. Even if that price includes the connectors it's still too much. You can get a set of BMR boxed subframe connectors for about $140 and you should expect to pay around $75 to $100 for the install.

This last weekend i went to a shop to have them weld my LCA relocation brackets on and they charged me $40. They even put on the new LCA's and didnt charge me extra, the guy was a huge F-Bod fan and loved doing something different then alternators and waterpumps all the time. 300 is way way to much, with todays welding tools its not rocket science. As for me i found a new mechanic and a friend with a lift.
