$3,000 to spend!!!!! ideas

well i won almost $4,000 on a slot machine and i'm using $3000 to modify my car. WHAT TO GET????

I was thinking...
- No2
- 58mm tb
- bolt on sub frames
- strut tower brace
- MAF
- new 02's and extenders
- underdrive pulleys
- tires/dr's
- diff wheels??? maybe
- silver 35th stripes

based on the mods in my sig. what would be the best thing for me to do to my car?

thanks

- No2 - too much chance to go boom!
- 58mm tb - not much HP gain - too much $
- bolt on sub frames - weld on = cheaper but get them either way
- strut tower brace - if you are cornering a lot
- MAF - not much HP gain - too much $
- new 02's and extenders - good idea
- underdrive pulleys - another good idea
- tires/dr's - drag radials
- diff wheels??? maybe - if you want
- silver 35th stripes - if you want

My advice

4 syllables - SU - PER - CHAR - GER

Even with lloyds good prices you will have a hard time getting out of it for $3000, you can get close, but if you buy 'good parts' and pay someone to install it will be more than that.

I can't believe heads and cam weren't on your list. Wish I had luck like yours.

If you have a solid bottom end, I would go with LE1 or LE2 Heads, matching cam, stall, and try to squeeze in a gear change. I feel thats $3000 well spent!!

those wheels are nice leave them alone.
depending if you want more power, handeling, or looks

power I would go with heads and 1.6 rockers to bring it up to LS1 spec (main differance with LS1 is better heads and more lift) NOS would wake your car up the most though.
handing I would invest in better shocks and sway bars maybe some SS control arms and panhard
looks a nice body kit I seen a nice one from RT sport

oh yea a cam alone could get you 400hp but you would have to live with a race car idle. to me that get old real quick

I was thinking the MAF because mine isn't working right now, i think it's shot. and i figured with the ram air and everything a little more air couldn't hurt with the bigger throttle body, to match the lt4 intake of course.

i wanted diff wheels to add a little width to the rear. some 11" wide rims. the 275's arnt cutting it and i want it to look meaner.

a buddy of mine has a vortec supercharger and i think i can get it from him for around a grand. I'm going to look into that

thanks for the ideas, keep em comming

Supercharger will kill a motor as fast or faster than nitrous will.

As far as $3000 goes, heads, cam, tuning, SUBFRAME CONNECTORS!!!, and if you are still bored, spray it.

How about.... Not spend the money on a car...? Why not spend it on your house (if you've got one), it would be a far better investment than into your car...

It's a typical thing, though... Give an f-body owner money and it will turn into parts for his car... Learned the lesson the hard way.

Be smart, why spend it on a car when all it will do is depreciate...? There is the fun factor, but you'll always want more, guaranteed.

If you need a new MAF, then you need a new MAF. Its that simple. Are you sure you need a new MAF? Maybe borrow someone elses and see if you car runs right.

You said you were getting an LT4 intake. I assume you mean an LT4 intake manifold. This manifold doesn't work well with LT1 heads. The runners don't line up properly.

A Lloyd Elliot head and cam package would be an incredible upgrade. His cheapest head and cam package, LE1 package, is around $1100. It will make a world of difference. (you will need a tune) E-mail Lloyd at nighttrain66@msn.com

People usually recommend doing bolt-on stuff first (exhaust, CAI, etc. etc.) but I recommend upgrading heads and cam first. If you get this out of the way early, the rest is litterally, ICING ON THE CAKE!! Get the REAL power parts out of the way. It's so typical for guys to do all the bolt-ons in the world, and then never swap the heads and cam. These guys will never experience the full potential of an LT1. The LT1's can make some power, but the heads MUST be ported.

Don't fall into the category of LT1'ers I described above, E-mail Lloyd.
