I got a quote from a good engine shop that dedicates itself to rebuilding engines. I was quoted 1800 for a complete rebuild, with a .030 overbore. Is this a good price? I just want the car back to stock to drive it for another year or so and then sell it.

 

yea sounds pretty good to me.

Is it drive up and leave it type. Or bring in the shortblock?

 

Drive up, leave the car, and come back in two weeks or whenever its done and pick up the car. Its a full machine shop in there and they dedicate themselves to rebuilding engines.

 

Make sure they know LT1s. It is not the same thing as a typical small block Chevy, and there are enough peculiarities to cause potential problems if they haven't worked on them before.

 

I had one done paid 1700 but had to bring the long block Don't sound too bad..

 

That's a damn good price...especially if they're gonna pull the motor and put it back in!
