$1000... What mods?

Heads and cam will be next, but to finish up any loose ends, what is left that I should spend $1000 on?

Current mods are of course in sig.

Put it in the bank for a rebuild incase your bottom end goes out on you after the cam install.

Honestly, the only thing I could see you really spending money on would be gears to compliment and a nice set of shocks to go with those springs if you're still running de-carbons. The gears would compiment the a cam quite nicely when you finally get to that stage.

You could get some 1.6 RRs: just make sure the springs you get will support the cam you intend to get later so that you don't need to get different springs. BTW why are you using such a cold plug on a NA engine. If you don't have a tune yet, the higher lift, more stable train and proper A/F and shift points should give you a little kick.JMHO

You have alot of the basics covered, the only things I can think of would be rockers and an electric water pump along with some additional suspension upgrades. Then again, this is assuming that you have the rockers already worked into your heads/cam budget.

I would do an electric water pump if the car is driven often... sure, lots of people run them no problem, but when they fail, a lot of people dont notice until its too late. Then you get horror stories.

I dont think the gains are worth the risk on a street car.

I'd use it to start saving for a head and cam package. If you're like most of us and would have trouble not spending it on something i'd just buy some rockers and maybe a timing chain set up. Then save the rest for your heads/cam as i assume thats whats next. Although i believe your in Cali. so that doesn't allow you much for a heads and cam package.

Id put some 3.73s in there. (just did mine and i think they are great) That should leave you with at least $500 left over. Then i would say save the 500. I think i spent 440 on my whole gear swap; both parts and labor.

Re: $1000... What mods?

I'm planning to go with the LE1 package. Fairly mild, but it's power that I'll be happy with.

This $1000 is in addition to the cost of the heads. I'm planning on 1.6 RRs and all the little supporting mods for them too of course.

Thanks for all the replies! I've been thinking I'm going to go ahead and get a temporary mail order tune for the cars' current state for now... And I'll dyno-tune it come head/cam time. The stall will probably be upped at that point as well, my transmission guy and I have discussed that previously.
