I work in a Gm parts Department at a dealership, and i can get a brand new (2003) MAf for about 190$ should i get this MAF or look into a Granetelli, or a SLP. Like you said, Granatelli makes one that should suit your needs.

They're about as good as they get.

Granatelli is a plastic piece of s h i t! No way is it worth the $269...if you're going to step up your MAF go with the Z06 conversion and save $100...

want a good maf, buy one from a 99 TA

stock is best when it comes to mafs, unless you max yours out. imho.

maf calculates load, load controls lots of things in the computer, timing, fuel, shift points, ect.

Go to www.ls1speed.com and look under Induction...about half way down the page you'll see the 85mm Z06 MAF conversion kit for $149.99...I believe it's the MAF from a 2001 Z06...

You're part way right ... the MAF doesn't do the calculations ... it simply supplies calibrated data to the PCM ...which does the calculations.

Which is why Z06 is of little or no value on an F-body ... the MAF is going to be supplying uncalibarated data to the PCM and the calculations will be inaccurate ... even the so called "calibrated" MAFS still supply inaccurate data ....

The money is better spent on a good tune ...

MAF

so what your sayin is that i should just leave the stock MAF in my 99 TA, i put a granetelli on my 95 TA and i couldn't feel a thing. I spent 360$ on that. So my question is, is there a benifit to getting a ZO6 MAF or just leaving the stock one in there?

Thanks alot for the help!

What are your current mods?

I'd spend the money for real HP in the way of a 3" Y-Pipe if it was me.

I've got the Black SLP maf ends on my otherwise stock maf. Until you get heads & or Cam setup your fine IMO, Fred

Yeah I've seen several sites advertise that 10hp gain from the SLP 85mm MAF. If I WERE to get one it would be a GM Z06 or SLP one cause SLP is as close to stock compatible as it gets. I wish to do a Cam and my goal is 400wrhp, I was told that a new MAF is not needed. The only thing that keeps me guessing is that I read somewhere that the screen actually helps perf by straightening airflow for the sensor, descreening throws the reading off and makes the car run lean. The SLP 85mm MAF still has a screen, and we are always told that more flow = more power. But I think to make it work you would have to have that capacity to flow from front to back, meaning Lid, MAF, Throttle body, and prob even the Z06 Intake.

One more time ... the MAF is a measuring device ... it provides very specific data to the PCM ... change the MAF and the data is inaccurate.
