i can get for free, swap with friend, works fine, just doesnt work on his vr4... good or bad, dont want to tune, will it bolt right in and work?

No ... the MAF is a meter. Your PCM is programmed to read the data from the MAF and make fuel adjustments accordling. Change or otherwise modify the MAF and for the most part you have corrupted the input to the PCM.

There are occasions and under certain conditons where the corrupted data may result in a slight increase in power ... ie inadvertently leaning out the fuel mixture.

But across all conditions, the chances are the results will be less than favorable.
