Z06 Clutch/PP in 01 SS M6??

I heard at the track last night that you can take a stock Z06 Vette clutch and pressure plate and put it in my 2001 Camaro SS M6...

Seeing as how the clutch in there is fried and I dont want to go with a crappy stock clutch that came in the SS, WOULD I be able to do this?? just get a clutch setup from a Z06 and put it in??

Please let me know, either that or waht a decent aftermarket clutch is that isnt going to cost me 800 some dollars.

Yes I think the clutches do interchange, but if it were me I would go with the SPEC clutches. I have one in my 98 and I love it.

Okay as long as it will work.. its the 4th clutch in 31,000 mile sgoin in the car... third trans... the first two times the trans was rebilt was when i got it (used) and the car got stuck in 4th then when the dealer did it they F'ed somethign up and somethign went wrong and actually broke the pressure plate and took out a few synchros the second time... so im technically on the 3rd trans... and the clutch got replaced both of those times too and once more about 20,000 miles ago... sooo Im giong to get on teh phone with GM (speically since i work for them) and bitch until they put in a new clutch but not a POS stock one... I want the Z06 clutch Im pretty sure they will do it, since we did it for one of our other customers with the SAME clutch problem... we shall see

on the pass before the clutch let go I ran 12.55 @ 118.55 with a 2.2 short time on street tires..... and that was with 100 shot...and some bent pushrods.........

I want to get some new times with the new cam with new hardend pushrods and the new spec stage three clutch...I want to get in a 11.99 or faster on street tire.......

No wonder the Z06 clutch went out...it's only good for about 450 hp @ the crank from what I've heard. My suggestion is go with the Z06 assembly if you don't plan on more than 450 hp and beating the hell out of the clutch at the strip. Just my .02

or for $90 more you can get the spec stage three clutch with a carbon or kevlar disc and steel flywheel...............that holds 600hp

..........or you can do it twice and get the z06 clutch for now....

What he said. My buddy has one in his 3800lb. 500+ RWHP twin turbo LS1 Formula and it holds and works great.

i believe the clutch on the 01-02 fbodys was a zo6 style, but not the ZO6 clutch in the ZO6 vette. They have diff part numbers, but I could be wrong. Since you've had this much trouble, I would try SPEC clutches. Sounds like you will be driving pretty hard. I have a real ZO6 clutch and I like it, but I try not to abuse the car too much, cause I too just had the tranny rebuilt and the rear worked on. Wasn't too cheap, I'm trying to make it my last time.

Yeah... Since ive had so many problems I will have to buy an aftermarket clutch... I think im giong to go with the Spec Stage3 clutch... GM will pay for labor but not the clutch. Whats better, ceramic or kevlar?
