Z-rated tires

Need some help here. I have to replace one of my tires and was wondering....

If I have one "H" rated tire and three "Z" rated tires will this cause problems?

Once I have to buy a new set, I will be going to an "H" rated, that is why I am wondering. Not to mention the cost of a "Z" rated tire.

Other than the possible traction issue having different tires....

As long as you don't go over the speed rating of the H tires ... you should be fine.

I was going to get H-rated tires for my car, but my friend's dad who has had Camaros since the 70s spent about 30 min/ telling me why my car need Z-rated tires.

1. For hard cornering
2. Grip when making sharp turns
3. To handle all that RWHP

...Just to name a few.

The tires in my sig. cost me $603 out the door and they're a GREAT tire. Check them out, they're Z-rated too.

Preformance cars need preformance tires. There is a price to pay for all the fun you have in a fast car. I would never do this to my baby.

Speed ratings are just speed ratings.. they don't affect the tires traction capability.

Assuming he havel the same size of tires, same brand and model.. with different speed ratings.. he should be fine. the H rating will let him go as high as 130mph.. where exactly would he be doing this highspeed?, I dont know, you'll have to ask him.

On top of that.. Speed rating of 130mph means, sustained speed. If he goes over that speed.. it would be fine as long as he doesnt keep up the same speed for "extended" period of time.

NOw if its different tires on every corner... with different speed ratings.. that would affect how the car handles.. not the tires traction.

Personally, I would never run a mismatched set of tires on the same axle, especially on my Camaro. I had some real bad experiences back in my younger days when I was broke. Tires are the single most important item on your car, and I don't skimp on them. Luckily my car came with free tires for life. Whenever I hit the tread wear indicators they will put a new set of Z-rated tires (no choice about brand name) on. The only requirement is that I get the tires rotated every 10k miles at the dealer. I wanted to put a set of 17" torq-thrust II's on, but I might wait until I at least get one set for free since that will screw the tire plan!
