y pipe and headers Q

I have 2 questions...one does an off road y pipe mean it doesnt have cats...? if so...i was looking at flowtech headers and flowtech y pipe but the y pipe is offroad...if this y pipe doesnt have cats and it has headers wouldnt this be ridiculously loud?

Correct, an Offroad Y Pipe doesn't have cats. As far as loudness, it all depends on your cat back. If you have anything really flee flowing like a Loud Mouth or Borla it'll be insanely loud. With most "normal" catbacks it'll have a very nice rumble at idle and cruise speeds, but scream at WOT.

If it doesn't hurt, it's not loud enough LT headers and an offroad Ypipe will be significantly louder but it shouldn't be anything to worry about unless you have a Loudmouth cat-back .. which you don't ... However, before you get LT's and a Ypipe of any kind, or at the same time, you should get an aftermarket cat-back to take full advantage of the increased exhaust flow from your long tube headers and Ypipe

www.ls1sounds.com

Go there and find the sound you like best. I like the LTs with the Magnaflow myself.

At that site, if you go to the SLP Dual-Dual, look for the LS1 Hawk clips. That's my car. In the video, it has before and after headers and offroad y-pipe so you can hear stock vs headers and offroad y. The SLP Dual Dual muffler is relatively quiet, yet very high flowing. I like my setup. There's another video of my car on that same page so you can hear it running at an autocross event from both in and outside the car. And that's my wife, not me driving at the end of the video!
