X Pipe

I may be a little niave but if someone can answer my question. I have seen x pipes talked about. I'm guessing these are a pipe put onto your exhaust inplace of the y pipe to keep the exhaust from going into one pipe. If you could clarify this for me, what benifits would this give and will it pass the emmisions test. Does this make the car sound better etc. Sorry for being so niave.

A X pipe is basically a cross over on true dual systems that allows the gasses to cause scavenging on the other bank of cylinders.

Does it make more power? Yes

Does it sound better, HECK yes

Emissions? I don't care
