Would a Volant CAI give me more HP over a LID?

Would a Volant CAI give me more HP over a LID?
I was thinking of going with a Volant CAI over a standard LID with the intant on adding a Ultra Z Ram Air Hood to add a Ram Air Effect... Would this give me more HP over a LID with the same hood or am I best off just saving the money and buying a cheap LID?

it doesnt bolt to a lid at all. you cut out the bottom of the air box and it goes in there. it goes allll the way to the bottom of the car and air gets forced up the scoop into the air box and up into the lid. it works with any lid
I suppose this would net me the same HP as my proposed idea and be ten times cheaper aswell?
